Julius von Bismarck durfte an der Ars Electronica eine goldene Nica in der Kategorie "Interactive Art" in Empfang nehmen - völlig zu recht, wie wir meinen: Sein ebenso revolutionäres wie faszinierendes Projekt "Image Fulgurator" macht es nämlich möglich, dass Sie ein Foto von etwas schiessen, anschliessend aber etwas sehen, dass Sie gar nicht wollten:
It makes it possible to manipulate photos [...] at the moment they’re being shot. [...] The Image Fulgurator is synchronized with the flash to project some random message onto the subject being focused on at the moment the picture is snapped.
Installiert wurde der Reality-Hack am berühmten Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin. Wer das "You are entering the American Sector"-Schild fotografieren wollte, hatte anschliessend den Zusatz "Hundreds of people died last year by trying this at the US-Mexico border" auf der Speicherkarte resp. auf dem Display (oder dem Film):
